Sports Medicine Workshop at A-State for High School Students in 10th-12th Grades

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University Continuing Education and Community Outreach (CECO) will conduct a sports medicine workshop for high school students in 10th-12th grades, Friday and Saturday, March 14-15.

The workshop will be at the A-State Football Complex beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday, and 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

This workshop will introduce to students a variety of sports medicine fields, concepts, and sports first aid.  Students attending will hear from allied health and sports medicine speakers, including Ron Carroll, Amanda Wheeler, Ron Johnson and David Smith.

Participants will learn about sports medicine career options and gain first responder action tips for icing, taping and bracing.  There will be demonstrations and small hands-on projects for response techniques and intervention.

A certificate will be awarded to students who successfully complete all sessions of the workshop.  A free t-shirt and lunch will be provided for registrants.  Friday evening will include a panel of professionals and a question and answer session.  Parents are invited to attend the general session Friday evening.
