Why did you choose A-State?
Our students are great! A-State is a thriving university with a lot of energy and vision. Jonesboro is a great place to live. I have terrific colleagues. I love the courses I teach.
Your philosophy on education in seven words:
Passion for helping students develop their careers.
What makes a good professor?
A good professor is fair, knowledgeable, inspiring and willing to go the extra mile to help students. One who sets high bars and willing to help students reach the bar!
What’s the value of a university education?
An education is worth the investment of time, effort, and money. With an education, students are able to prepare themselves for an interesting career instead of having to work in a job they do not like for the rest of their life. An education opens the door to so many opportunities for students.
What music is playing in your car?
Kid Rock, HairNation, or Classic Country
If you could teach another field, which one and why?
Neuropsychology! I took a doctoral course in neuropsychology. I find the field fascinating. Many people take for granted how fragile the brain is and how the slightest impact on the brain can affect so many aspects of a person’s life. Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) are considered the “Silent Epidemic.” I would love to help educate students about the seriousness of TBIs and concussions.
What is the one thing you wish you could teach everyone about your field?
I wish I could teach everyone the importance of professional networking and communication (verbal and nonverbal). It only takes a few seconds to make a first impression whether in a classroom, interview or at a meeting. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

My passion is...
helping students develop their careers. I knew I wanted to be a teacher/professor when I was five years old. My grandfather gave me a chalkboard when I was five. After school, I would come home and play teacher with my chalkboard. I would teach my dolls everything I had learned at school that day. This has been a lifetime passion of mine. I love helping people achieve things they never thought possible. I want students to leave the classroom with practical knowledge and skills they can use after they graduate.
