ASBTDC to Host AccelHERate Event Monday, March 8

JONESBORO — A panel of four women who excel in research, innovation and business will share lessons learned and advice for leading companies during the AccelHERate event hosted by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC), Monday, March 8.

AccelHERate, part of International Women’s Day, is from 4-5:30 p.m. on Zoom. Those interested in participating may register online. For additional information, contact Brittany Roe, ASBTDC business consultant, at 870-972-3517.

The panel members will voice their thoughts on management and growth strategies, commercialization opportunities, startup mistakes and how to avoid them, key skills for entrepreneurial success, and more.

Panelists include:

 — Dr. Jenn Conner — Conner is a faculty member at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine-Arkansas. Conner has extensive experience in behavioral research, clinical health services research, grant administration, community-based public health programming and policy evaluation. She has brought together academic institutions, hospitals, schools, faith-based organizations, community-based organizations, municipalities and non-profits to investigate and evaluate a broad range of health topics, including childhood obesity, respiratory illness, traumatic brain injury, cancer and birth defects.

 — Dr. Maureen Dolan — Dolan is president of Nature West, a biotech company that exploits the chemical biodiversity of plants as “factories” for producing compounds with applications in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical/dietary supplement, cosmeceutical, research reagent and agrochemical markets. Dolan is also the director of A-State's Biotechnology program and an associate professor of molecular biology. Previously, she served as co-founder and VP research for Nature Diagnostics, Inc. (acquired by Applied Food Technologies, Inc.)

 — Allyson Lewis — Lewis is founder and CEO of the 7 Minute Life, a time management company. Her books have sold more than 130,000 copies and have been translated into Chinese, Turkish, Korean, and Spanish. Her YouTube channel has had more than 1.7 million minutes watched. Lewis is actively researching the neuroscience of happiness, productivity and well-being in the workplace.

 — Sharon Davis – Davis founded Strategic Technologies Corporation in 1993 and Strategic Continuity Services in 2005. Both companies serve a wide range of well-known clients in the region. Prior to starting her own companies, Davis held several positions in sales, marketing and management at a wide range of technology companies, including AT&T, Xerox and U.S. Computer, where she served as a regional vice president.

The ASBTDC at A-State is a partnership of the U.S. Small Business Administration, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Business and the Arkansas State University Neil Griffin College of Business.
