Community Based Programs
The International Center for English (TICE) provides low cost evening and weekend programs for individuals seeking English language development who reside or work in the greater Jonesboro community for whom English is not their native language. In order to keep the cost as low as possible many of the instructors volunteer their own personal time to this program and some limited scholarship support is also available. Additionally, books and instructional materials are either loaned to students or provided by donations.
Rather than focusing upon the development of English competencies needed for entry into undergraduate and graduate academic programs, the Community Based Intensive English Program is designed to provide English instruction aimed at providing assistance with basic English language survival skills; English for the workplace; English for interacting with health care professionals; English needed for banking and money management; and English needed to be able to benefit from courses taught for achieving a General Education Diploma (GED).
- Available to learners from beginning to advanced level.
- Special ‘zero” beginner level for learners with no English experience.
- Fun, interactive classes.
- ASU Certificate of Completion given after completing the program.
- GED preparation classes available after completing the program
- American conversation partner.
- Special events and activities to help you practice and improve your English.
