Farris Elected to Serve as State APTA Delegate

Dr. Jim Farris, associate professor of physical therapy, and program director, has been elected to serve as a delegate of the Arkansas chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). State association delegates serve in the APTA's House of Delegates, a policy-making body that makes decisions that may affect the organization, the profession, or both. He will serve a two-year term beginning in January.

Flores Co-Authors Chapter for Mathematics Book Flores Co-Authors Chapter for Mathematics Book

Dr. Hugo Flores, professor of mathematics, A-State Campus Querétaro, co-authored a chapter in the Handbook of Visual, Experimental and Computational Mathematics. He and his colleagues used ordinary differential equations to model the dynamic between susceptible, exposed, infectious, hospitalized and recovered individuals during the pandemic. They also assessed the impact of interventions, such as lockdown, and vaccination in susceptible and exposed individuals regarding infections, hospitalizations and deaths.

 
Sky-Eagle is new Faculty Member in Dietetics

Welcome to new faculty member Dr. Kelley Sky-Eagle, who is an assistant professor of dietetics. She recently earned her Doctorate in Health Science at the University of Indianapolis. Sky-Eagle’s research interests are specific to diabetes management, relating directly to her work as a certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES) in her clinical practice. She is a native of Forrest City.

Dougan Addresses Archaeology Conference Dougan Addresses Archaeology Conference

Dr. Michael B. Dougan, emeritus professor of history, made a presentation on "Arkansas Through Anthropology and Archaeology” to those attending the Mid-South Archaeological Conference, which was held at the A-State Museum. He also recently signed copies of his book, Community Diaries, Arkansas Newspapering, 1819-2002, and visited with industry representatives at the annual Arkansas Press Association convention in Little Rock.

 
Bounds Co-Authors Book on Financial Literacy

Dr. Steve Bounds, emeritus associate professor of educational leadership, is co-author of a new book on financial literacy for school leaders. Released by Rowman and Littlefield, The Essentials of Finance for School Leaders: A Practical Handbook for Problem-Solving and Meeting Challenges, is a comprehensive guide for school leaders to better understand school finance policies and their impact on daily school operations. He also wrote a chapter for the latest edition of a book on funding public schools.
