Izadyar Presents Research in Amsterdam

Dr. Anahita Izadyar, associate professor of chemistry, presented at the International Conference on Applied Chemistry in Amsterdam. Her topic was "Amperometric Biosensor for Glucose Determination Based on a Novel Recombinant Mn Peroxidase from Corn Cross-Linked to a Gold Electrode.” The conference provides an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to cover recent innovations and trends, as well as practical challenges and solutions in applied chemistry.

Kher Co-Authors Paper for Technologies Session Kher Co-Authors Paper for Technologies Session

Dr. Shubhalaxmi Kher, professor of electrical engineering and program director, is co-author of a paper accepted for inclusion during the Future Technologies Conference, scheduled for a hybrid format in October. Her paper is titled, "Estimating Musical Appreciation using Neural Network." The conference attracts researchers, scientists and technologists internationally from top companies, universities, research firms and government agencies.

 
Gilmore Retires after 29 Years of Service Gilmore Retires after 29 Years of Service

Congratulations to Dr. David Gilmore, professor of microbiology, who is wrapping up a 29-year teaching and research career at A-State. Gilmore has been directing the environmental microbiology lab, which deals with microbial physiology. In addition to teaching microbiology, genetics and virology, his recent research interests include work on the mechanism of action of new antibiotics. He earned his Ph.D. at Connecticut.

 
Pfriemer Concludes 29-Year A-State Career

Best wishes to Judith Pfriemer, assistant professor of nursing, who is among the group of retiring faculty recognized during Convocation of Scholars. Pfriemer has been helping prepare future nurses for careers in healthcare for the past 29 years at A-State, having joined what was then the department, now School of Nursing, in 1992. Her teaching specialties include medical-surgical nursing, mental health and nephrology.

Tedder Speaks at Employment Conference

Dylan Tedder, assistant director for employer relations and internships, Career Services Center, was an invited speaker for the Arkansas Association for Colleges and Employers (AACE) conference in May. His presentation, “Implementing Career Development Theory in Career Curriculums and the Workplace,” examined learning outcomes, curriculum design and employer engagement connections based on his analysis of work by researchers Krumboltz and Schlossberg.
