Librarians Present at Acquisitions Conference

Ellis Library staff Jeff Bailey, director, Linda Creibaum, acquisitions and serials librarian, and Star Holloway, serials access librarian, jointly presented "Acquisitions In a Nutshell," an introduction and exploration of the field of library acquisitions at the 35th Charleston Conference: Issues in Book and Serial Acquisition. Bailey and Creibaum also led a workshop on creating a spreadsheet-based formula for better managing collection development budgets

McCargo Recognized for 'Making a Difference' McCargo Recognized for 'Making a Difference'

During fall commencement, many students most likely reflected on the mentoring and guidance received from helpful faculty and staff members like Renette McCargo, advising and career center coordinator in Media and Communication. From the group of 13 nominees, students selected McCargo to receive the "You Made a Difference" adviser award, given by the Wilson Advising Center and Student Government Association.

 
Kesselring is Resource for News Articles

Dr. Randy Kesselring, professor of economics, served as a news resource for two recent articles in The Jonesboro Sun. He provided perspective on the possible impact of the Federal Reserve's likely decision to raise a key benchmark interest rate.  He also discussed reactions to a presidential candidate's proposed policy on immigration, based partly on his contact with former students he knew while serving as a Fulbright Scholar in Syria.

Legacy Society Recognizes Retirees' Generosity Legacy Society Recognizes Retirees' Generosity

At the recent Legacy Society dinner at Cooper Alumni Center, several couples and individuals were recognized for their planned gifts to Arkansas State, and were inducted into the university's Legacy Society. Included among the honorees were Leonard and Mary Lou McDaniel, who are retired from longtime service as registrar and assistant dean of students, respectively, and former faculty member and university relations director Markham Howe and his wife Gayle. Marshall Helps Raise Funds for St. Jude

Tony Marshall, cable technician/fiber optics specialist in Information and Technology Services, recorded a excellent performance recently in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon. Out of the thousands of runners, Marshall finished 72nd in his age division and 977th overall, completing the course in four hours, 25 minutes. The marathon raised $8.2 million to help save the lives of children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
