NSF Awards Grant to Huang for 'No-Boundary Thinking' Research Network NSF Awards Grant to Huang for 'No-Boundary Thinking' Research Network

Dr. Xiuzhen Huang, associate professor of computer science, is principal investigator for a National Science Foundation-funded project to form the No-Boundary Education and Research Network.  The network, which involves 24 faculty from 19 institutions in 13 states, represents multiple disciplines such as the sciences, agriculture, math and statistics. The network goal is to apply the "no-boundary thinking" approach to problems for which traditional research does not work well.  The $300,000 grant was awarded through NSF's EAGER project.

 
Kern to Teach at LSU School of Banking

Congratulations to Dr. David Kern, associate professor of finance and McAdams-Frierson Chair of Bank Management in the College of Business, on being invited to teach a class on asset liability management at the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking.  Kern also will continue as a faculty member at the Barret School of Banking in Memphis.  Teaching at these banking schools enhances relationships with bank executives, educators and industry consultants.

Clark is Speaker for CASE Social Media Workshop Clark is Speaker for CASE Social Media Workshop

Todd Clark, director of creative media, made a presentation Tuesday on the value of creating social media content, and another on minimizing errors while doing so, at the Social Media Workshop sponsored by District IV of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.  He also was one of three panelists who discussed the importance of measuring social media's impact in a meaningful way.  The workshop was at the Albuquerque Center of New Mexico State University.

 
Carroll and Bowyer Perform at Treble Clef Club

Dr. Ken Carroll, associate professor of music and director of jazz studies, was special guest Thursday for a meeting of the Treble Clef Music Club of Jonesboro.  Carroll performed for the club members using an EWI (electronic wind instrument), and was joined in his presentation by a jazz trio of A-State students, including Tyler Worsham, piano; Tyrell Montgomery, bass; and Addison Boling, drums. Dr. Don Bowyer, dean, played trombone with the group on several selections.
