This certificate program is intended for individuals who already hold a degree in counseling or a related field.  The purpose of the program is to allow individuals currently working in mental health settings to upgrade their knowledge and skills related to working with clinical populations; allow individuals who have already earned a degree with fewer than the required minimum hours for professional counseling licensure to add those hours; and/or allow individuals with a professional counselor license to add one or more specialization licenses available through the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling.

    Applicants must meet requirements for admission to the EdS degree in Psychology and Counseling (Mental Health Counseling track). Students must complete a minimum of 15 hours from among existing courses approved for credit toward the Specialist in Education degree with an emphasis in Mental Health Counseling.
