Scott is a native Arkansan. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and his master's degree at Arkansas State University. He has taught English in China and Japan. As with many ESL teachers, he loves to travel. He has been to the four corners of America, and also to Senegal, Korea, and Thailand. His favorite local activities include listening to jazz music downtown, watching ASU and U of A football, and having thought-provoking conversations at area cafés. Scott feels that the best part about teaching ESL is seeing students discover something unique about the English language or American culture for the first time. He especially enjoys teaching students how to articulate their ideas in his listening and speaking classes. His research interests include communication competency and cross-cultural adaptation.
