Dr. Barbara Warner is an Assistant Professor of Political Science. She teaches classes on various aspects of politics, including political communication, and the media and politics; on the U.S. Congress; on public policy, including environmental policy; and on leadership.

Her research has focused on political rhetoric (particularly as it relates to presidents, war and terrorism); congressional behavior (especially women in Congress); civics education; and environmental issues (particularly aquifer depletion and fracking).

Her doctoral dissertation, "Talking Us into War: Rhetorical Problem Definition by Presidents George W. Bush and Lyndon B. Johnson," was a co-winner of the University of Arkansas' 2010 Public Policy Ph.D. Program Distinguished Dissertation Award.

Dr. Warner has a background as an award-winning political journalist and column writer; as a press secretary and legislative aide to five members of Congress and to the U.S. House Small Business Committee; and as a senior advisor for communications to the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs in the U.S. Commerce Department in the Clinton Administration.
