Biography

Dr. Marceline Hayes specializes in research and teaching in health communication as well as interpersonal/relational communication from a qualitative/interpretive perspective. She joined Arkansas State University after faculty service at Western Illinois University in 2004. She is co-author of a book, along with Dr. Myleea Hill, entitled "From Awareness to Commitment in Public Health Campaigns: The Awareness Myth" (2017) Lexington Books. Her work appears in journals such as the Journal of Family Communication, Communication Education, Argumentation & Advocacy, Computers in Human Behavior, and the Southern Communication Journal. She is currently a member of the editorial board for the Southern Communication Journal and served as past chair for the communication theory division of the Southern States Communication Association. She is interested in helping students address complicated communication problems in a theoretical and practical way. She hopes her passion for her field and her department inspires students to reach their potential.
