Biography

Born and raised in Germany, Dr. Unnold completed her primary and secondary education in her native country.  Thereafter she moved to the United States and obtained her bachelor’s degree at the University of California (Davis), her Masters and Ph.D. at the University of Washington (Seattle), and a Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in Higher Education Administration and Leadership at the University of Southern Mississippi (Hattiesburg).  Additionally, she also studied at the Universidad de Costa Rica. 

 

Dr. Unnold has extensive teaching experience at the university level, as well as the secondary education level; she has taught Spanish, German, and English in language, culture and teacher education programs in Costa Rica, Mexico, the United States and Germany. She has also led study abroad programs at the graduate and undergraduate programs to a variety of countries.

 

Since 2008, Dr. Unnold has been serving as Chair and Associate Professor of the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Arkansas State University.  In 2012, she was additionally appointed Project Leader for Arkansas State University-Queretaro, the first American style university to be built and operated in Mexico.  Since then, she has taken the lead in preparing Arkansas State University to welcome the first freshman/graduate level class at the ASTATE-Queretaro campus in fall of 2015.
