Tom is the Civil Engineering Program Director.   He was at NIOSH for four years doing construction research before he came to ASU in 1984.  He has worked with the civil students with the concrete canoe and steel bridge since 1984 and is now the faculty advisor for ASCE.  He has worked closely with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department in several research studies. The studies include rock buttress wall design, pavement damage from tri-axle trucks, load ratings determination for bridges made from salvaged rail road cars and consolidation of concrete in bridge decks.  He has done consulting projects related to building seismic design, foundation design and has served as an expert witness as related to building construction practices.
