Biography

Dr. Johnson received his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Michigan. His work focuses on the comic short story in late nineteenth-century France and on representations of economic relations. He has published over twenty articles on Zola, Balzac, Musset, Mérimée, Villiers de l'Isle-Adam, Malot, and other writers.

He has a great passion for silent film and classical music, particularly the work of the Finnish composer Sibelius.
