Dan Ross is Professor of Oboe at Arkansas State University, a position he has held since 1968. He is Principal Oboist with the North Mississippi Symphony, and the Delta Symphony. He served for 24 years as Principal Oboe with the Arkansas Symphony and has performed with the North Arkansas Symphony, Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, Nashville Symphony and St. Louis Symphony and St. Louis Chamber Orchestras. He is a frequent soloist with the Forum Sinfonia of Krakow, Poland on their tours of the United States and Europe and holds the title of Visiting Professor of Oboe at the Academy of Music in Krakow, Poland and has been a soloist with the St. Petersburg and Moscow Philharmonic orchestras in Russia. He is the inventor and developer of the Ross gouging machine.
