He is the chair of the Delta Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Business who organizes the annual ASU Business Plan Competition and serves as academic advisor for the ASU teams who compete in the Donald W. Reynolds Governor's Cup. Also, he is the faculty in residence for the new Honors Learning and Living Community. His research has been published in top tier Academic Journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Research, Family Business Review, Journal of Family Business Strategy, Journal of Development Entrepreneurship, Journal of Small Business Strategy, and Journal of Family Business Management. He serves in the editorial boards of Family Business Review, Journal of Family Business Strategy, and Journal of Business Disciplines. In addition, he is a visiting faculty in Family Business at Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala City.

Before becoming an academic, he had an extensive corporate and entrepreneurial experience as well as became one of the most respected business and economist columnists in the Guatemalan media with more than 500 trade publications. His achievements include: Finalist for the 2008 NFIB Dissertation Award, the Triple Crown for PhD Student research awards at Mississippi State University in 2007, and a Fulbright scholarship from 1995-1997.
