The Traditional AASN Program is offered at West Memphis (Mid-South Community College), ASU Beebe & ASU Mt. Home Campus. 

Effective Spring 2013, admission testing will be required. Test dates and times are listed below and all testing is done on the ASU Jonesboro Campus.  NOTE:  Even though the HESI A2 Admission Exam includes several sections, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary and Math are the three sections currently administered.

Before beginning the application process, please review the Checklist for Application Requirement below:

  1. If you currently are NOT an A-State student you must apply for admission to A-State.                                  THIS IS NOT THE APPLICATION TO APPLY TO THE AASN PROGRAM
  2. Complete the AASN Application and review the AASN Program Checklist (rev 5/27/14)
  3. Transfer all transfer coursework to the ASU-Jonesboro Register's Office by September 15th to allow the Register's Office to evaluate coursework by the October 1st deadline.  DO NOT SUBMIT OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS TO THE SCHOOL OF NURSING, THESE WILL NOT BE RETAINED.
  4. Register for the HESI A2 Admission Exam (exam will cover Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Math). Exam fee is non-refundable.

Associate in Applied Science of Nursing (AASN) Applications

Applications available April 30th – June 15th

Readmit and Transfer Applications for AASN Programs

Fall: Application available April 30th – June 15th

Spring: Application available August 31st – October 1st

Use this application if you are seeking readmission to an ASU Nursing program or you would like to transfer to ASU from another School of Nursing.

Readmission testing:  Students seeking readmission or transferring from another school to the AASN or BSN nursing programs are required to pass a standardized test created from the objectives of the courses successfully completed in previous semesters.  Criteria for readmission to the undergraduate nursing programs includes: 1) complete readmission packet; 2) recommendation of faculty; 3) passing score (75%) on the standardized assessment test(s) of courses previously passed; 4) cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0; and 5) space availability in the class.  Readmission applications and information on scheduling a testing date is located on the School of Nursing website each semester.  The cost of the readmission test is the responsibility of the student.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Applications: Jonesboro Campus ONLY

Applications for the Traditional BSN Program must be completed & submitted online.

Due to confidentiality reasons, the School of Nursing is unable to view applications until after the application deadline.  Upon submission of your application, please print off your confirmation receipt for your records (after submitting you will receive a message that the application has been submitted).  You will not receive a confirmation via email.  DO NOT call the School of Nursing regarding completion of submitted application documents.

  2. Complete the 2nd Degree Accelerated BSN Application (You will need one of the following browsers to access the application link: Internet Explorer 9, Firefox or Google Chrome)
  3. Transfer all transfer coursework to the ASU-Jonesboro Register's Office by March 1st to allow the Register's Office to evaluate coursework by the March 15th deadline. 
  4. You must also submit a second set of all official transcripts to the School of Nursing with your completed 2nd Degree Accelerated application.
  5. Register for the HESI A2 Admission Exam (exam will cover Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Math). Exam fee is non-refundable.

Application Deadline:  July 1st of Preceding Anticipated January Start Date

In addition to the Online Graduate School application, the MSN Applicant Packet must be completed and submitted directly to the Nursing Dept.  If you have questions about this two fold process, please call the Nursing Department at (870) 972-3074.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

DNP Program Application

In addition to the application, the following documentation must be submitted to the School of Nursing. Evidence of the following is required before registering for clinical practicums.

  • Copy of License (RN, APN/APRN)
  • Copy of Advanced Practice Certification (NP,CNS, NA)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • 3 Work References in Envelope with Signature on the Seal or Emailed Directly to awaters@astate.edu.
  • Copy of Current CPR (American Heart Association for Professionals) valid through the academic year
  • Copy of TB skin tests valid through the academic year
  • Evidence of Hepatitis B immunization or signed declination statement
  • Copy of professional liability insurance
  • Copy of valid health insurance
  • Copy of TOEFL score if applicable
