Dr. Gabriel Tait

Dr. Gabriel B. Tait earned his Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2013. His research focuses on the impact of photography in cross-cultural contexts, and the role photography plays in constructing and representing cultural identities. He recently developed the photographic research methodology, “Sight Beyond My Sight,” as way to learn about local cultures from local cultures.
Gabriel earned an M.A. in Intercultural Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary and B.A. in Communication with an emphasis on photojournalism at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Prior to attending seminary, Gabriel served 20 years as a national and international newspaper photojournalist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Detroit Free Press covering events in Iraq, Kosovo, Egypt, and numerous other countries. He recently completed assignments in Haiti and the Middle East.
