Gary Pounder (RTV '80) has joined the staff at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, VA as Director of Contract Credit and Military Affairs. He is a retired U.S. Air Force intelligence officer and most recently worked as Director of Military Initiatives at Southern New Hampshire University.
Rodneikka (Freeman) Scott (JOUR '04, MSMC '07) has just taken a new position as Senior Manager of Member Relations at American Academy of Otolaryngology in the Washington D.C. Metro Area Information Technology and Services moving from previous position at Higher Logic, Association of Government Accountants, TESOL.
Kevin Spangler (RTV '05) is now working at Encompass Digital Media as a TOC Specialist in Atlanta, GA. This is the second time he has been with this company, but the first time as an EIC on a portable Earth Station.
Katherine Shurlds (JOUR '69) has been named Journalism Educator of the Year by the Arkansas Press Association. She teaches in the Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She was the director of the Lemke Journalism Project for 13 years.
Adam Crisler (RTV '08) has moved to Memphis to transfer from KAIT-TV 8 to her sister station, WMC.
Gretchen Hunt (JOUR '98) has just been named 2013 Woman of the Year by Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
Marsha (Mays)Carwell (RTV '05) works for ASU Alumni Association as the Director of Alumni Membership. She is married to Brett who farms and they have one daughter, Carson who is 15 months old.
Patty Henson-Sullivan (RTV '81) has just taken a new position in the Global Engagement Office at Walton College of Business at University of Arkansas supporting students and faculty programs around the world.
Robert Tabern (RTV '01) has just taken a new position as the dayside Assignment Editor for WTMJ-TV Channel 4, the NBC affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The historic studios of WTMJ are housed in the first building in the country specifically built (1941) for radio and television broadcasting. Robert and his wife, Kandace are also managers of the brand new Trails & Rails program on Amtrak's Southwest Chief between Chicago, Illinois and La Plata, Missouri. Trails & Rails is sponsored by the National Park Service and features volunteer rangers aboard trains to present interpretive programs to passengers.
Hannah Burney (JOUR '04) has taken a position as a graphic designer with PatientPoint located in Little Rock, AR. She had been with Arkansas Democrat-Gazette since 2006.
Brandon Morris (JOUR '08) will be speaking October 17, 2013 on "Who Responds When Disaster Strikes?" in the Wilson Hall Auditorium. He will be visiting some of the classes in the College of Media and Communication on October 16th.
Edith Taylor (RTV ' 05) has just taken a position on the writing team for FOX & FRIENDS in New York City. She left Fox 13 in Memphis to take this position.
Jane Todd (RTV '98) has taken a position as Human Resources Manager at Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas and is the Assistant Office Manager at VPI Property Management, LLC.
Dana (Hoggard) Watkins (SCOM '95, MA '97) and Steve Watkins (JOUR '88, MSMC '04) are buying a house in Ecuador and will be featured on an upcoming "House Hunters International" on October 3, at 9:30 p.m. They will be living part-time in Ecuador working on projects there. They would like to work with missionaries while they live there and feel they are learning a new way of life and and new view of life.
Libby Anderson (RTV '03) continues to live and work in Los Angeles, CA in freelance production on features, commercials, and music videos. Currently finishing up her tenth feature film, working as the Production Supervisor. Still works as an APOC and Production Coordinator, depending on the scope of the project. Received her first Associate Producer credit recently, which the product is now in post production.
Beth Bright (JOUR '12) was hired in January 2013 as a staff writer and photographer for The Sentinel-Record in her hometown of Hot Springs. Hot Springs being the tourist community that it is, she covers news that would appeal to the many visitors to Hot Springs as well as general assignments.
Rachel Carner (JOUR '13) was hired in early July as a reporter/photographer for the Paragould Daily Press. She covers general assignments as well as takes pictures across Greene County. She is engaged to her high school sweetheart and long-time Red Wolf fan, Ryan Simpson and plans to be married in early 2014.
Shannon O'Nale (RTV '11) is living in Orange, California. She has taken a position as the Marketing Coordinator at Rosary High School which is an all-girl college-preparatory high school in Fullerton, California. She works in the Advancement department and oversees graphic design, multimedia and communications as well as fundraising events. She is enjoying using many of the skills she learned as a student here at ASU and is very thankful to the faculty who taught her with a special thank you to Mr Collin Pillow!
Steve Sullivan (RTV '82) was inducted as a sportscaster, into the Arkansas Sportscaster-Sportswriter Hall of Fame at the seventh-annual Arkansas Sportscaster-Sportswriter Hall of Fame banquet at the Centennial Country Club in Conway. He joins past inductees Paul Eels, Bud Campbell, Jim Elder, Pat Summerall, Frank Broyles and Mike Harrison. He has been a sportscaster for 30 years, including 14 years at KATV. He has been named Arkansas Sportscaster of the year three times and has won the AP Best Sportscast Award 13 times at KATV. The Arkansas Activities Association honored him with it's Distinguished Media Member Award.
Mark Carlson (RTV '86) is living in Minnesota. He just recently started to work for Wells Fargo. He has worked the last seven years in Business to Business. He eldest son will be a senior in High School this fall.
Cody Dertow (RTV '13) is the new Sports and Community Director for East Arkansas Broadcasters in Stuttgart. (Stations 97.3/106.9, 105.5/102.5, 102.7/1240AM). He is also the voice of Stuttgart High School Basketball and Baseball, run Friday Night Football postgame show. He conducts interviews and gathers news for sports/news reports on the radio newscast.
Sarah Campbell (JOUR '11) is at staff writer at The Leader in Jacksonville, AR since May 2011. She covers a variety of beats and often takes photos as well as writes stories for this bi-weekly publication. It is a family-owned, locally operated newspaper that covers North Pulaski, Lonoke and White Counties in Arkansas. It's been independent and locally owned since 1987 and was named Arkansas' Best Large Weekly in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Brittany Reese (JOUR '11 MSMC '13) is working at Arkansas Minority Health Commission and is doing photography and writing stories for newsletters. She is enjoying assisting with Public Health Care Forums.
Mickey Ryan (RTV '92) has been named the Red Wolves' Associate Athletics Director for External Relations beginning in June. He brings over 20 years of experience in sales, broadcasting and marketing with him to ASU. In this position with ASU he will supervise marketing, multi-media, ticket sales, promotions, fan experience, social media(marketing and sales) and special events.
Ricky Adamson (MSMC '08) is very excited he is graduating in May from University of Arkansas with his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Foreign and Second Language Education.
Littice Bacon-Blood (JOUR '90) has been named as a legislative relief reporter in Louisiana. She will be based in Baton Rouge and will work with Correspondent Melinda Deslatte on coverage of state government during the upcoming session of the Louisiana Legislature. She is a former reporter and a suburban bureau chief for The Times-Picayune and previously worked as reporter for the Sun Herald newspaper in Mississippi.
Carol Langston (JOUR '85) has been named executive assistant to the president and development officer at Ozarka College in Melbourne. Previously, she served as vice president for college advancement and executive assistant to the president at Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock. She has relocated to her hometown of Salem.

In her position, she oversees the marketing and public relations efforts of six of the system's 15 hospitals. She, her husband, Jeff, and daughter, Caroline, reside in Tyler.

Tom Kaemmerling (RTV ’78) is President of LakeTek, LLC, manufacturer of the Dock Torpedo portable, inflatable, fender system for watercraft. He was granted a United States utility patent for the fender in May of 2010. A separate design patent is pending. Tom and wife, Debbie reside in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
