A-State Engineering has a number of privately funded scholarships available to students enrolled in a degree plan within our college.  All scholarships are for full-time students with a declared major in Engineering and attending the ASU-Jonesboro campus. Criteria for each scholarship are listed below the title.  Engineering scholarships are administered through our office. Click here for Scholarship Application. APPLICATION PROCESS

Deadline for ALL Engineering privately funded scholarship applications is February 15, 2018 (incoming freshman scholarship applications may be considered after this date).  

Incoming Freshmen (first time college students) should complete the Incoming Freshmen application.  Current ASU-Jonesboro students with a declared Engineering major must complete the Current Student Scholarship Application.  

Note to both Incoming Freshmen and Current ASU Students: You must be a declared major in Engineering to qualify for any of these scholarships.

Your application packet must include:

  • Completed application form. Incomplete applications are disqualified.
  • Current transcript (an unofficial transcript is acceptable).
  • Cover letter (2 page maximum) describing your area of study, goals and ambitions, and career plans. Since the requirements for each scholarship is different, please read them carefully and include all requested information. Some scholarship recipients may be required to meet with a donor, provide a photo/bio, or attend a conference or award ceremony. We will notify you if you are selected to receive a scholarship with additional requirements.
  • Once your application packet is ready, deliver it to Timi Saffell, LSW239, or mail to: Scholarship Committee, PO Box 1740, State University, AR 72467. Application packets are due February 15, 2018.

A-STATE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS

A-State Engineering has a number of privately funded scholarships available for students enrolled in a degree plan within our college. All scholarships are for full-time students with a declared major in Engineering and attending the A-State-Jonesboro campus. Most scholarship awards are split between the fall and spring semesters.

Academic Performance Scholarship

  1. Incoming freshmen only
  2. Must be a declared Engineering major – ASU-Jonesboro.
  3. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the end of the first semester to receive the balance of the scholarship.

Automation Outfitters Scholarship

  1. Junior level student
  2. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  3. Electrical Engineering student

Jonathan Barfield Memorial Scholarship

  1. Upper level student (Junior or Senior)
  2. 3.0 GPA
  3. Active within any ASU-J fraternity or sorority
  4. Essay required with each application

Engineering Scholarship

  1. Entering freshmen in the Engineering Program and must have an ACT of 23 or be in the upper 12% of high school graduating class
  2. Upperclassmen must have overall GPA of 2.0 or better with 30-80 credit hours or 2.5 GPA with 80 or above credit hours

E.J. and Betty Hillhouse Memorial Scholarship

Hino Motors Engineering Scholarship

  1. Full-time junior or senior level student majoring in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  2. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and making continuous progress toward degree
  3. Scholarship cannot be transferred to another university

Hytrol Conveyors Scholarship

  1. Full-time student majoring in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Tom Loberg Memorial Scholarship

  1. Upper level student (Junior or Senior), in good standing, enrolled for a minimum of six (6) credit hours, with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  2. First preference given to students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Engineering with Professional Concentration in Mechanical Engineering; or if no student qualifies who is pursuing the Mechanical Engineering degree, the award may go to an otherwise qualified student pursuing any undergraduate degree in the College of Engineering.
  3. Previous students are eligible to re-apply.

Gene and Irene Martz College of Engineering Scholarship

  1. Graduate of an Arkansas High School (or GED)
  2. Current Arkansas resident
  3. First Preference: incoming freshman in the top 10% of graduating class, or 23 ACT
  4. Must be an Electrical Engineer major
  5. Second Preference: sophomore level current ASU student with a 3.0 GPA

Dr. Albert L. Mink Scholarship

  1. Incoming freshman in the top 10% of graduating class, or 23 ACT
  2. Sophomore may be considered as alternative recipient
  3. Student must be full-time engineering major with a 3.0 GPA
  4. Other factors considered are financial need, number of dependents, semester hours and course content

Dunn Mitts Family Scholarship

  1. Incoming freshman, must have ACT of 21 or above, or be in the upper 10% of graduating class
  2. Sophomore, junior and senior level students must have a 3.0 GPA
  3. Other factors considered are financial need, number of dependents, semester hours completed and potential for success in obtaining a degree in engineering

Olympus Construction, Inc., Scholarship Endowment

  1. Full-time student and resident of State of Arkansas
  2. Must be majoring in any field of Engineering
  3. Completed a minimum of 60 credit hours with a GPA of 3.0

Danny Scott Memorial Scholarship

  1. Incoming Freshman, must have either an ACT composite score of 23 or be in the upper 10% of graduating class and enter the engineering program as a full-time student
  2. Sophomores, Junior, and Seniors may apply, provided are full-time engineering majors with a 2.5 GPA or above
  3. Other factors considered are financial need, number of dependents, semester hours and course content

Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Scholarship

  1. Full-time student majoring in technical areas that would qualify them for membership in the student or senior chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers
  2. Must be an active member of the SME Student Chapter (S201) at Arkansas State University or the Senior Chapter (246)
  3. Applications will be judged on the basis of SME participation, GPA, student status, honors, community activities and financial need

Jim and Carole Stevens Engineering Scholarship Endowment Fund

  1. Full-time engineering major with a 3.0 GPA
  2. Citizen of the United States

Martin Sprocket & Gear Engineering Scholarship

  1. Full-time student at ASU-J
  2. Junior or Senior full-time engineering major with a 3.0 GPA
  3. Must have 60+ hours

Roberto Rocca Scholarship sponsored by Tenaris

  1. Full-time student
  2. Sophomore, Junior or Senior
  3. Must be majoring in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  4. Citizen of the United States or permanent resident

Tokusen U.S.A., Inc., Endowment Fund

  1. Full-time engineering students, in good academic standing, transferring to ASU from the University of Central Arkansas
  2. In the event that no transfer students qualify as eligible, the selection of a recipient shall be made by a committee appointed by the Dean of the College of Engineering

Women in Engineering Empowerment Scholarship

  1. Females only
  2. Must be pursuing a degree in STEM: science, technology, engineering or math
  3. Can be an undergraduate or graduate student
  4. Open to students attending a US or Canadian institution
  5. Entrants must be 17 years or older
  6. No GPA requirement
