No Easy Walk to Freedom, 5th-8th Grades

In the first part of the morning session students will explore the life of Nelson Mandela as he journeyed on his long walk to freedom in South Africa. Students will analyze the lyrics of the song "No Easy Walk to Freedom" written and performed by Peter, Paul and Mary, as they compare and contrast the events in South Africa with those of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. In the second part of the morning session, students will create an iMovie that will allow them to share what they have learned with friends and family.

Time: 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Place: ASU Jonesboro, Wilson Hall, Mac Lab 103A
Cost: $40 for one child or $60 for two children enrolling at the same time
