Lecture-Concert Series: National Security vs. the People's Right to Know: From the Pentagon Papers to Wikileaks
10/24/2013, 6:30 PM
Carl R. Reng Student Union Auditorium
Producer/director Rick Goldsmith was twice nominated for Best Documentary Feature Academy Award, most recently for The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers, broadcast in prime-time on PBS; and for Tell the Truth and Run: George Seldes and the American Press (1996), a piercing look at censorship and suppression in America's news media, which became a staple in journalism schools nationwide. The Manning, Snowden and Wikileaks events have sparked debate about access to government records vs. national security. Following a screening of The Most Dangerous Man in America, Goldsmith will speak briefly then open the floor for Q&A.
