Global Climate Strike

09/27/2019, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Location: Student Union
Room: Front Lawn

The Global Climate Strike will be taking place September 27th from 11:00 AM–2:00 PM. We are joining students across the globe who will walk out of classes to demand world governments take aggressive action to fight climate change. This movement was originally started by 16-year-old Greta Thunberg, a student in Sweden, who has just recently earned the Nobel Peace Prize for her climate advocacy. As students, we are young and worried but informed, and motivated. The climate crisis represents an existential threat to our future. The strike is a chance to show that our commitment to safe and secure future for us and for future generations is sincere. School strikers are calling on everyone, regardless of age to join this global climate strike. I ask that you join us at the Student Union Lawn on September 27th from 11:00 AM–2:00PM to demand an end to the age of complacency and denial, and the implementation of the emergency action necessary to avoid a climate catastrophe. We are committed to doing all that is necessary to hold our elected officials responsible. We encourage you to join us and we ask that you encourage your students, children, co-workers, friends, family, neighbors, to join us as well in the first ever Jonesboro Global Climate Strike. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to contact Sara Saucedo.
