Description
This is an overnight trip to Helena for a tour of historical civil war sites and battlegrounds from the Battle of Helena. Mark Christ will be presenting "'We Were Badly Whipped': The Battle of Helena, July 4, 1863" on Friday, March 29 at the Delta Cultural Center. The dinner speaker for Friday evening will be Thomas Shell Jacques, Assistant Director of Delta Cultural Center. The title for his presentation is “Historical Helena and Future Visions.” The noon speaker for Saturday, March 30, will be Cathy Cunningham presenting “Civil War Helena and the African American Experience.”

Place: Departs ASU Jonesboro
Cost: $130; ASU Students may attend for FREE but must submit a minimum two paragraph essay describing how this tour will be of benefit to you and how you can share this in-formation with others; Email to bboals@astate.edu or lfears@astate.edu. Community members can also submit an essay for reduced cost trip or trip at no cost in the event all student slots are not filled.
