Become a Junior Meteorologist and/or a News Anchor – Using our own local celebrities and experts from the field, campers will become meteorologists for the week and discover why our weather changes! Jr. Meteorologists will measure and record rainfall, create a water cycle wheel, build a weather station, learn about the Greenhouse Effect, create a terrarium, design their own tornadoes, create “snow” during the summer and more! Before you know it, Jr. Meteorologist will be on the 6 o’clock news doing the weather! In addition, campers will end the week demonstrating the three states of matter by making and eating some delicious ice cream. Throughout the week they will take home projects that include: sun prints, UV beads, a wind vane, anemometer, and a very cool rain stick! We will visit KAIT Meteorologists on the set and local News Anchors as well! And, even appear on the Diana Davis noon TV Show! Also, try out becoming a News Anchor like our own Diana Davis! Practice in the A-State KASU newsroom and see what you really look like on TV as well as how you sound. Learn more about current events and become passionate about a need in our community or our world. Report on a topic such as the need for a Doggy Park in Jonesboro, or more Bike Trails in the City, etc. You choose a topic, research and explore, interview experts in the field, and develop a final presentation and Public Service Announcement (PSA) to be submitted to KASU and KAIT for consideration for publication.
