Basic Sign Language for Parents and Teachers of Small Children

This class will focus on beginning sign language vocabulary for parents and teachers of preschool and elementary school children. Instruction will be provided in a positive and encouraging environment with a hands-on learning approach. Participants will learn and practice signs for common household items, animals, family, verbs, emotions, safety and other concepts. Participants will also learn and practice the American Manual Alphabet and number signs 1-20. The textbook features a picture, sign illustration, and the English word for each concept. Participants can expect to learn approximately 300 signs.
Dates: 10 Mondays, February 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11, 25, April 1, 8, 15 & 22 (No class on March 18 due to spring break)
Time: 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
Place: ASU Jonesboro, Eugene Smith Building, Room 409
