The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, and Office of Admissions at Arkansas State University will host A-State Connection on Friday, April 24, 2020.
What is A-State Connection?
A-State Connection is a diversity recruitment program designed for high-achieving high school juniors from underrepresented racial/ethnic backgrounds. Students will receive information about A-State resources and tips on how to successfully navigate college. The day will be filled with fun and informative sessions to connect students to all aspects of academic and campus life at A-State.
A-State Connection Requirements
- The student must reside in Arkansas or the Memphis, TN metro area
- The student must be from a marginalized racial/ethnic background (Examples: African American, Asian American, Native American, Hispanic)
- The student must be a junior matriculating in a college preparatory curriculum
- The student must have at least (1) a 2.75 cumulative GPA
AND(2) an 18 ACT.

A-State Connection FAQs
Is there assistance to get to A-State Connection (Jonesboro, AR)? Yes, in select cities. If you are unable to drive to Jonesboro, AR to attend A-State Connection, there will be pick-up locations in the following cities: North Little Rock, AR, West Memphis, AR, Blytheville, AR, and Forrest City, AR. Students will meet A-State officials at the nearest location for transportation to Jonesboro, AR.
Can I drive on my own?
Yes. Students are welcome to drive to and from A-State Connection, with parent/guardian permission. Once the student is on campus, they will need to park their vehicle in the designated spots for the day. A-State Vans will shuttle students to local events throughout the day. Once the day is complete, the student will be able to remove their car from the designated parking area and head home. Please be advised of start and end times for our scheduled events if you drive. Parents/Guardians are also welcome to drive their students and pick them up upon completion of the day's activities.
Is this an Overnight Program?
No. A-State Connection will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020 from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Do I need transportation around town?
No. We will provide shuttle services to and from the scheduled events located off campus.
Do I need spending money?
You are not required to bring spending money as all meals will be provided during the event. However, students are welcome to bring spending money for snacks, souvenirs, etc.
What should I Bring?
You should wear comfortable shoes, and a light jacket (rooms get cool sometimes). Students will receive a T-shirt upon Check-In that they will wear for the duration of the program.
