Blackboard Upgrade Preview

The Q4 2017 Upgrade Preview Site is at https://astate-test.blackboard.com/. The Preview Site has been designed to help prepare faculty for the upcoming Q4 2017 upgrade.

Faculty may use their full A-State email address and password to log into the Preview site. Each faculty member has access to blank course shells matching their Spring 2018 courses. Faculty are encouraged to explore the upgrade by importing one of their courses to see how it will look or try the new workflows.

What is Blackboard Learn?

Blackboard Learn is a Learning Management System (LMS) designed to enhance teaching and learning. It is an application for online teaching, learning, community building, and knowledge sharing. It enables instructors to build and customize course offerings. In addition, students enrolled in a Blackboard course become engaged in an interactive learning environment. You can use any theory or model for teaching your online course because Blackboard Learn is open, flexible, and centered on student achievement.

What happened to Blackboard?

As of the second summer semester for the 2023 school year, the A-State Jonesboro campus has transitioned to Canvas for our LMS solution.

What is the Last Access Date for Blackboard Learn?

Faculty should continue to have access to their previous Blackboard shells until September 01, 2023. Please make sure to export and archive any course material that you need by that date.

Scheduled Maintenance Outages

Due to Fiscal Year End activities, Banner PROD will be unavailable after 3 pm Thursday July 20^th. This will affect Admin Pages, Self Service, Degree Works, Transfer Equivalency, Argos, and Automic jobs/CRON jobs running against PROD. The estimated time Banner PROD will become available is 10 pm Thursday night. Thank you for your patience during this time.

The weekend following the 3^rd Friday of each month is the regularly scheduled “Maintenance Window” for enterprise IT systems. Occasionally the dates are adjusted to accommodate other University business processes but in general these are the weekends you can expect downtime on major systems.
