The course is taught live over the internet using ZOOM software. This software allows students to see and hear the instructor and also allows the instructor to see and hear the students. ZOOM software also allows instructor to use a whiteboard and share their screen so students can view class notes and materials.
Before the first class meeting, students are sent a link to download the ZOOM software and join the first class meeting in an email from the instructor. After that, students can join the class by opening up ZOOM on their computer and typing in the meeting ID number which will also be provided by the instructor in that initial email.
A webcam and microphone along with a high-speed Internet connection are needed to fully participate in the class. If a student does not have a microphone either built into their computer or through an external device, they may call in to the class using the phone number provided in the initial email invitation.
