VPAT Approval Process

Prior to submitting paperwork to us, please ensure that you are requesting approval for the most accessible software/web application to your knowledge.  Please provide the names of at least 2 other software packages/web applications that were evaluated and why you chose the package you are submitting.  Always ask a vendor to supply a VPAT (Vendor Product Accessibility Template).  If a vendor does not know what a VPAT is, send them this link so that they can see what it is:  https://www.state.gov/m/irm/impact/c32157.htm

Approval Process for Software, Cloud/Web Application, and Websites with a vendor supplied VPAT:

  1. Request Completed VPAT from the Vendor
  2. Complete the appropriate ASU VPAT Testing Checklist
  3. Complete the form Disability Services Assessment Form with VPAT
  4. Scan all documents and send to Disability Services via email VPATS@astate.edu

Approval Process for Software, Cloud/Web Application, and Websites without a vendor supplied VPAT:

  1. If you cannot get a VPAT from the Vendor, follow these steps
  2. Complete the appropriate ASU VPAT Testing Checklist
  3. Complete the form ASU Disability Services Product Accessibility Report without VPAT
  4. Scan all documents and send to Disability Services via email VPATS@astate.edu

Approval Process for Software, Cloud/Web Application, and Websites that you feel are Exempt from needing a VPAT:

  1. Complete the form ASU Disability Services VPAT Exemption Form
  2. Complete the form Disability Services Assessment Form with VPAT
  3. Scan all documents and send to Disability Services via email VPATS@astate.edu

Approval Process for Hardware and other technology products or services with a vendor supplied VPAT:

  1. Request Completed VPAT from the Vendor
  2. Send Completed VPAT to ITS and Procurement

Approval Process for Hardware and other technology products or services without a VPAT:
