Summer Camp Academy 2013   

 

The ASU Summer Camp Academy provides students with a variety of fun, educational activities, including art, literature, drama, and creative play centered on themes, performance areas and subject areas. ASU’s Middle Ages is a unique summer learning experience appropriate for students in grades 3rd- 6th.   It consists of a one-week, half-day camp that re-imagines life in the Middle Ages.

Want to boost your child’s mighty math powers?  Camp Umizoomi will provide a fun way for children to strengthen skills with numbers, patterns and shapes, counting, measuring, comparing and more, while promoting a positive attitude towards learning math skills.

Once Upon a Time… Literacy Day Camp

This camp focuses on children's literature and Fairy-Tales.  Your child will delight in the experience of being part of their very own fairytale.

Adventures with Katniss & Peeta

Come see if you can survive the "Hunger Games"  by going on adventures like that of Katniss and Peta in the real movie. The students will go on scavenger hunts, play games/activities, and even take a day out to watch the movie for those that enjoyed it the first time or even for those that have never seen it.

Sharing with Flair: Social Media Tips

This class is for fifth through ninth graders who are on or looking into being on any social media site. This class is meant to inform the students of how each social media sites work such as; uploading photos to instagram, learning how to tweet on Twitter and what is appropriate and what is not, and learning the basics of Facebook and how to connect to people they know.

At some point in your life, you wanted to be an archaeologist.

Technology Camp

Students learn by having fun with superb technology instruction and unique projects created with real programming languages or industry multimedia software. Kids come to explore technology with personal attention, excitement and creativity rarely found elsewhere.

 Kids in grades 4th through 6th will be taking an imaginary tour of the continents "All Around the World." They will learn about the different cultures from professors from different countries, and  even get to join in the cultural experiences of food tasting and listening to the different types of music from other countries.

Disaster Camp

Disaster camp is a week-long 1/2 day camp geared toward students who will be entering the seventh and eighth grade in the fall. The camp incorporates computer technology, science, and all types of disasters, as well as individual disaster planning, first aid, CPR and coping strategies.

Young Chef's Academy

Choose the recipes, test the recipes, and put them into your own cookbook! We will cook and bake in our recipe test kitchen!  Have fun creating new recipes and learn how to make your favorite recipes more nutritious.  By the end of the week you will have many new recipes to include in your own custom designed cookbooks that you take home and share with your family.

In this class students will be researching experiments from the YouTube website each day and in turn reenacting the experiments themselves in the classroom.

  Join us for a week of fun cooking and baking kid friendly recipes in our own test kitchen. You will learn to make plenty of kid friendly recipes - from pizza to rock candy.
