ASU SBTDC to present “Small Business Sales Tax” workshop

JONESBORO, Ark. — The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) along with the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jonesboro Association (DJA) will offer “Arkansas Sales and Use Tax” workshop Tuesday, April 9, from 1-4 p.m.

The small business workshop will be run by The Arkansas Tax Associates, Inc., in Room 201 at the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development, 319 University Loop West.   This three-hour workshop is designed to inform business owners of current sales tax laws, help them prevent overpayment of sales tax, educate about the increased risk of audits that small businesses may face due to increased compliance audits and show how to protect themselves from failure to comply with new regulations.

The seminar also covers state of Arkansas incentives and tax credits that are available to many eligible businesses.  The instructors will be David Rickman, Jeff Simmons and Ted Walker of Arkansas Tax Associates, Inc.

“Arkansas Tax Associates, Inc. is a long time partner with the ASU SBTDC,” said Herb Lawrence, ASU SBTDC director.  “They provide a unique service not available by many accounting firms by helping small businesses understand Arkansas Sales and Use Tax requirements and making sure that they are in compliance.

“Arkansas Sales and Use Tax laws become more complicated every year and this seminar is designed to keep Craighead County businesses informed about changes, how to deal with audits, even find out if they have been overpaying.”

Registration is $35 per person ($25 for Chamber and DJA members and $20 for ASU faculty, staff and Students).   For more information or to register contact the Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center at (870) 972-3517, email asusbtdc@astate.edu, register on line at http://asbtdc.ualr.edu/training/jonesboro.asp or “fan” the ASU SBTDC on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/asu.sbtdc
