Gov. Beebe Reappoints Ron Rhodes to ASU Board of Trustees

LITTLE ROCK — Gov. Mike Beebe today reappointed Ron Rhodes of Cherokee Village to a second five-year term on the Arkansas State University Board of Trustees.

Rhodes, who served as chairman of the board in 2012, is a 1970 graduate of Arkansas State in Jonesboro, a life member of the ASU Alumni Association and a member of the Red Wolves Foundation. He is a Realtor and broker/owner of King Rhodes and Associates Inc., a real estate and rental management business in Cherokee Village.

“It’s a privilege to serve Arkansas State University, and I look forward to the opportunities that are ahead of us,” said Rhodes, who is married to the former Brenda Sanders of El Dorado, an ASU alumnus.

Dr. Charles L. Welch, president of the ASU System, expressed gratitude to the governor for the appointment.

“Mr. Rhodes has provided strong leadership to ASU during the past five years, and we’re very pleased he will continue to serve his alma mater and the rest of our statewide higher education system,” Welch said.

Rhodes’ appointment will expire on Jan. 14, 2018.

The ASU System serves more than 22,000 students throughout Arkansas and includes Arkansas State University, a four-year research institution in Jonesboro; ASU-Beebe, with additional campuses in Heber Springs and Searcy; ASU-Newport, with additional campuses in Jonesboro and Marked Tree; ASU-Mountain Home; and instructional sites in Paragould and at the Little Rock Air Force Base.
