Stephanie Thum to visit ASU campus as part of R-TV Alumni Professional-in-Residence series

Stephanie Burkhead Thum, Vice President of Customer Experience at the Export-Import Bank of the United States in Washington, D.C., will be on the Arkansas State campus Sunday, Feb. 17, through Tuesday, Feb. 19, to speak with students and faculty as part of the Radio-Television Professional-in-Residence series.

While on campus, she will speak to the Multimedia Reporting, Audio Production, Mass Communication in Modern Society, Multimedia Storytelling, and Introduction to Internet Communications classes.

Thum graduated from ASU in 1993 with a bachelor of science degree in R-TV and earned a master of arts degree in Corporate Communication from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa. 

She worked her way through college at ASU as an announcer, copywriter and news editor for multiple radio stations in the Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri areas. She joined the professional staff at KASU directly after graduation. 

Other highlights from her career include working for eight-and-a-half years for global accounting firm Ernst & Young as a business development and client satisfaction executive, and for one-and-a-half years for a St. Louis-based law firm, where she developed a client feedback and client team program. 

She is a nationally published writer many times over on subjects such as customer experience, social media, organizational development, marketing, public relations, and environmental and green topics.

Thum is married to ASU alum Andy Thum (MSMC ’94), who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. The couple met at ASU. They have lived in several metropolitan areas including Pittsburgh, Columbus, Ohio and St. Louis, Mo.  They currently reside in Northern Virginia and have one child.
